LIPOR / CREW

I worked with LIPOR in Porto, Portugal to understand why people weren’t repairing, reusing, or donating electronics — and turn those barriers into a strategy for CREW, its circular-economy initiative.

Strategy presented to LIPOR leadership

Client

LIPOR / CREW — a circular-economy initiative focused on extending the life of electronics in Porto, Portugal.

My role

Consultant. I worked across research, strategy, concept development, and the final client presentation.

The problem

People understood that electronics could be repaired or reused, but awareness wasn’t consistently translating into action.

What I did

Researched behavioral barriers and comparable programs, developed a citizen-engagement strategy, and prototyped an AI tool that could guide people toward repair, reuse, or donation.

From research to recommendation

Three steps

01

Understand why people weren’t acting. I researched the e-waste journey, spoke with stakeholders, and looked at comparable programs to identify where awareness was failing to turn into repair, reuse, or donation.

02

Design around the barriers. I translated those findings into a citizen-engagement strategy focused on making the next step clearer and easier to take.

03

Make the strategy tangible. I prototyped an AI-assisted experience that could route people to relevant repair, reuse, and donation options, then presented the concept and broader recommendations to LIPOR leadership.
