Confusion is information.
When several students get stuck in the same place, I don’t assume they’re the problem. I look at what I can change.
Teaching Where did I lose them? → Product Where are users getting stuck?
Vol. 02 Teaching
Teaching changed the way I understand people.
Teaching has been part of my life for years, and it’s shaped the way I think more than I expected. Spending so much time explaining ideas, watching where people get stuck, and trying a different approach when something doesn’t click has made me pay close attention to how people experience things. That perspective follows me everywhere, including into product.
When several students get stuck in the same place, I don’t assume they’re the problem. I look at what I can change.
Teaching Where did I lose them? → Product Where are users getting stuck?
People arrive with different context, confidence, and experience. Before deciding what comes next, I want to understand what they already know.
Teaching Know the learner → Product Know the user
The same idea can feel obvious or impossible depending on when someone encounters it. Good teaching is often about choosing the right next step.
Teaching Design the lesson → Product Design the journey
I’ve watched students understand more once they feel comfortable trying, failing, and asking questions. The experience around the task matters too.
Teaching Make it safe to try → Product Make it easy to explore
